Promoting a Healthy and Active Lifestyle

Physical activity not only improves a student’s health and wellbeing, it can have significant benefits on their academic performance.

We provide all students with the opportunity to develop and maintain their physical and mental wellbeing through a variety of subjects, sports and wellbeing programs that promote and encourage healthy minds and bodies.

Beaumaris Secondary College is situated within the unique location where the city meets the sea. We regularly collaborate with local sporting groups to provide our students with both inhouse and external sports excursions that create opportunities for students to improve and excel.

Our Sporting Facilities

Beaumaris Secondary College boasts exceptional sporting facilities including:

  • An indoor Activity Centre
  • Melbourne Cricket Ground Oval
  • School Oval
  • Multi-purpose pitch

Our goal is for our students to emerge with a solid understanding of the benefit of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

Year 7 & 8 Sport Education Program

In Year 7 and 8, as part of the Sport Education Program, students have a timetabled Sport Education session on a Tuesday and Friday respectively.

  • Year 7 – Tuesday (Session 4)
  • Year 8 – Friday (Session 4)

If the sport they are allocated is competition-based, they will play against the other seven schools in the Kingston Division (a different school each week).

Unique to our Kingston Division across the state, is the opportunity to play competition sports against our division on a weekly basis. This fantastic offering means students have more chances to represent their school on a consistent basis than most government schools!

Intermediate (Year 9 & 10) and Senior Sport (Year 11 & 12)

In the Intermediate and Senior years, students can opt into sporting teams for the term Round Robin Carnivals in the Kingston Division.

Students no longer have a timetabled Sport session but have the opportunity to try out for all the same sports and play against the same schools in a round robin competition each term.

We belong to the Kingston Sporting Division and play against the following Schools in our division matches and carnivals:

  • Bentleigh
  • Brighton
  • McKinnon
  • Mordialloc
  • Parkdale
  • Sandringham
  • Westall

Depending on an individuals and/or teams performance (house-based time trials), they can continue to compete in a high level of competition through School Sport Victoria. The competition continues through a series of elimination carnivals including District, Division, Regional, State and finally National competition. Over the past four years we have built a culture of heavy, active participation throughout all of our sporting carnivals and events.

Our students actively participate in activities throughout the school year that maximise their skills, talents and passion in sport.
