Cycling Success: Congratulations to Jack and Archie!
This year has been a remarkable one for our talented cyclists, Jack P and Archie M (Year 8).
In the recent Victorian Junior Road Championships, Jack brought home the gold in the Time Trial and earned silver medals in both the road race and criterium. His success continued at the National Junior Road Cycling Championships, where he achieved a silver, bronze, and a fourth-place finish. Jack also proudly represented Beaumaris Secondary College in the Victorian Interschool Cycling Series, winning the Junior Category.
Archie was also selected to represent Victoria at the Junior Road Nationals after strong performances throughout the year, including a stage win and GC podium in Round 3, as well as a bronze medal in the criterium and a fourth place in both the road race and time trial at the State Championships. He achieved three top 20 results at the Nationals.
In an exciting development, Jack recently received an invitation to be considered for selection to a Belgium Road Cycling Academy in 2025. We wish him all the best in his cycling journey and look forward to seeing his future accomplishments!
International Youth Hockey Cup
Congratulations to Xavier C (Year 10) and Louis N (Year 8), who have been selected to play in the upcoming International Youth Hockey Cup! Xavier and Louis will participate in a four-day international tournament in Perth, which features teams from Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Japan.
This achievement is a testament to their commitment and dedication to fitness and training, which they have both demonstrated in the lead-up to the tournament.
Amelie O Selected for Victorian Under 19 State Cricket Team
Congratulations to Year 12 student Amelie O, who has been selected to represent Victoria in the Under 19 state cricket team. Amelie's selection is a testament to her dedication and exceptional skills in the sport. Following her selection, Amelie has already begun rigorous training sessions in preparation for the Nationals scheduled to take place in Perth later this year. This prestigious opportunity comes after Amelie was chosen as one of the final 13 members from a competitive pool of 30 emerging talents, selected initially from hundreds of young female cricketers across the state.
This is an outstanding achievement and wish her all the best as she prepares to showcase her talents on the national stage. Her commitment and passion for cricket are truly inspiring, reflecting the spirit of excellence that we value at our school.
Jack L Races to Success in Amy’s Medio Fondo
Congratulations to Year 11 student Jack L, who raced in the prestigious Amy’s Medio Fondo at the end of last term. The 45km race, held along the scenic route from Apollo Bay to Lorne, saw Jack deliver an outstanding performance, finishing 7th overall across all age groups with a time of 1:23:47. This is a remarkable achievement, showcasing Jack’s dedication and talent in cycling. Well done, Jack!
Congratulations to Paris M, who represented Beaumaris Secondary College in the recent Victorian Interschool Ski Championships. Paris finished in 8th place in the Alpine competition which qualified her for the National Championships at Perisher.
At the Australian Interschools Snowsport National Championships, Paris finished an amazing 8th place in the Alpine Giant Slalom race as an individual competitor.

Jethro's Debut Gig!

Excelling on the National and International Gymnastics Stage!
We are excited to share the outstanding achievements of Emerson L from Year 11, who recently showcased his remarkable talent at the Australian Gymnastics Championship held on the Gold Coast. Emerson emerged as the U17 Australian Champion in one of his trampolining events, alongside securing two Silver medals, demonstrating his exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.
Following his stellar performance, Emerson earned a prestigious spot in the Gymnastics Australia National Squad and represented Australia at the Coimbra World Cup and Scalibus Cup in Portugal, where he competed against international gymnasts on a global stage. Emerson achieved individual silver medals at both the Coimbra World Cup and Scalibus World Cup, as well as a team Silver and Gold.
Emerson's success is a testament to his hard work, perseverance and passion for gymnastics. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and look forward to cheering him on as he continues to excel in his gymnastics journey.
A HUGE congratulations to Oskar V, who recently participated in the National Youth Championships, where his team came 4th. Oskar was awarded the U16 National Goalie of the Tournament! What an achievement!
Oskar has also been selected to represent Football Australia in the Subway Joeys National U17 Football team for the upcoming Pacific Tour and competition in Vanuatu and Solomon Islands. We wish Oskar all the best!
April 2024 - A Star on the International Stage!
A HUGE congratulations to Oskar V (Year 10) who recently represented Australia in the U17 National Soccer team! Defeating Switzerland 4:3 the team went on to face Inter Milan where Oskar played the entire game. Immersed in daily meetings, training sessions, and strict routines, Oskar thrived amidst the professionalism. Well done, Oskar!
At the end of May, Connor received notification that he had been selected for the U18 Boys' Victorian State Rugby Union team. The team completed a rigorous training program in the weeks that followed. During the school holidays, the team travelled to Adelaide, South Australia, to compete in the Southern States Championship, held on 11 - 12 July 2024, between Victoria, Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania.
The Victorian team made it to the Grand Final, narrowly missing out on the top spot which went to South Australia. Final score: 29 - 21. Connor had an amazing time and is thankful for the opportunity afforded to him.
We are incredibly proud of Connor's dedication and hard work. Congratulations, Connor, on this fantastic achievement!
Australian Swimming Olympic Trials
Kiara M (Year 11) qualified for the Australian Swimming Olympic Trials in both the 200m and 400m freestyle events! The Trials, known as the most prestigious domestic swimming event, determine the makeup of the Dolphins Swimming Team for the Paris Olympics.
Under fierce competition, she swam her heart out and finished 5th in her heat for the 200m freestyle and 3rd in her heat for the 400m freestyle, placing Top 10 for girls 18 and under, nationally! We couldn't be prouder of her determination and dedication, not to mention this HUGE achievement!
1st Place in Ellen José Student Reconciliation Awards
Congratulations to Celia S who received 1st place in the Year 11 - 12 category of the Ellen José Student Reconciliation Awards for her amazing artwork! The Ellen José Student Reconciliation Awards are aimed at Bayside primary and secondary school students, bringing awareness of reconciliation to our young people, who are the future of Australia, through art and writing. Entrants are asked to interpret "As a young person, what does reconciliation mean to you?" in their artwork or writing piece.
Year 8 Cyclists Shine in National Championships!
A HUGE congratulations to Year 8 students, Archie M and Jack P, who represented Victoria in the Australian Junior Track Cycling Championships in Brisbane recently.
Archie finished 12th overall in the 500m Time Trial and qualified for the finals of the Points Race and Scratch Race but was unfortunately caught up in some crashes which is part and parcel of high-speed track racing.
Jack achieved top 10 finishes in all his races with a best placing of 6th in the Points Race.
Jack also participated in the Victorian 2024 Interschool Cycling Series, winning the Junior Boys A category after achieving first place finishes in all 7 races of the competition.

A HUGE congratulations to our talented Remy J on her Sandringham Dragons debut!
Outstanding Performances at The Aussies
Micah showcased her exceptional skills, securing an impressive 12th place in the u13 Female Beach Flags category. Furthermore, in a fiercely competitive field, she demonstrated her prowess by clinching 4th place in both the u13 and u14 Female Beach Relay finals.
Equally remarkable was Connor's performance, as he showcased his dedication and talent throughout the competition. He finished an admirable 13th in the u17 Male Beach Flags and advanced to the semi-finals in the u17 Male Beach Sprint, finishing 11th overall. Not stopping there, Connor also participated in the Open Mixed Beach Relay semi-final.
The highlight of Connor's achievements came in the u19 Male Beach Relay final, where he and his team delivered an outstanding performance, securing the third position and earning the Bronze medal—an extraordinary accomplishment!

From Nationals Bronze to Premier League Debut
Congratulations to Hamish L (Year 11) and his team on their stellar performance at the U16 National Hockey Tournament in Hobart! Bringing home the Bronze medal is no small feat. Now, Hamish is shifting focus to his club seasons, kicking off with an impressive debut in the Premier League Reserves match. Way to go, Hamish!
Weekend CRIT Race
Congratulations to Archie M and Jack P, both Year 8 students, who demonstrated remarkable skill and determination while navigating the challenging closed course in a CRIT race over the weekend, organised by the Caulfield Carnegie Cycling Club.
Notably, our very own Austin Deneys, a dedicated teacher, also took on the cycling challenge, showcasing the spirit of active involvement and enthusiasm within our school community.
A criterium, or CRIT race, involves cycling a specified number of laps on a closed course set up on public roads, ensuring a safe and exciting environment for the competitors. It's fantastic to see our students and teachers engaging in such dynamic extracurricular activities.
125 National Sailing Championships
In a remarkable display of skill and sportsmanship, three Beaumaris Secondary College students took to the waters at the 45th 125 National Championships held at Black Rock Yacht Club from December 29 to January 4.
Angus B (Year 10) showcased his sailing prowess aboard "Inspector Gadget," while Nathan H and William J (Year 12) navigated the challenges with finesse on their vessel, "Inertia."
The dedication and commitment demonstrated by these students not only reflect their individual achievements but also bring pride and honour to our school. Congratulations to Angus, Nathan and William for their outstanding performance at the championships.
International Youth Gryphon Cup
A HUGE congratulations to Xavier C (Year 9) and Hamish L (Year 10), our incredible young hockey stars, on clinching the bronze medal in the International Youth Gryphon Cup in Perth! Over four action-packed days, they battled it out against top teams from Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan.
Participating in an international tournament is a significant milestone in any athlete's journey, and we are immensely proud of Xavier and Hamish for their achievements.

Amelie Announced in the Vic Metro Cricket Squad!
This week, Amelie O in Year 11 was named in the 14-player Victoria Metro cricket squad. She will represent Vic Metro in the Under 19 Female Championships to take place in Brisbane in December.
In announcing the squad, Cricket Victoria’s Talent Development Manager, Andy Christie, said the tournament was a great opportunity for young players to test themselves alongside the rest of the country.
“Our players have continued to expand and develop all facets of their game throughout an extensive Emerging Player Program. The level of performance from all players within the Under 19 program has been exceptional. It’s a real credit to the effort they are putting in to continue their development. The National Championships in Brisbane will provide a fantastic opportunity for players to showcase their skills whilst coming together and representing Victoria Metro with great pride.”
Amelie has been picked in the squad as a top-order batter and is also highly regarded as a boundary rider in the field. She plays her club cricket at Melbourne Cricket Club and this season has played every game in the first XI.
Amelie can’t wait to make the most of this opportunity to represent the Vic Metro U19 cricket team.
"I'm really excited and super keen to get into the tournament in Brisbane. We play all NSW, SA, WA, TAS, QLD and ACT. The tournament goes over the course of a week and we play different formats. I’m keen to bring home the gold medal!"

Lacrosse U15 National Championships
A huge congratulations to Sid F, Willem D & Ajay S (Year 7 ) who played their hearts out for the Southern Victorian Lacrosse team at the nationals in Ballarat recently against older competition! Top effort!
Australian IRB Championships
A massive round of applause for Mia O (Year 12)! Lifesaving Victoria selected Mia to join the Victorian Development (U23) team, representing us at the Australian IRB Championships in NSW, and they proudly secured the bronze medal!
Mia's skills shone even brighter as she snagged the gold in the Mass Rescue event alongside her Hampton Life Saving Club comrades. They outshined a whopping 100+ teams from clubs all over the nation! Keep riding those waves of success, Mia!
State Team Selection - Athletics Victoria 2023 Victorian Cross Country Team
A huge congratulations to Kiara M (Year 10) for earning a spot on the Athletics Victoria 2023 Victorian Cross Country Team! Kiara will be heading to the ACT at the end of August to showcase her exceptional talent at the national championships. We are immensely proud of Kiara, who's often seen pounding the streets of Beaumaris! Go Kiara, you truly deserve this honour!
Australian Gymnastic Championships
Congratulations to Chloe K on her remarkable accomplishments in gymnastics! Earlier this year, she earned a well-deserved spot on the Gymnastics Victoria 2023 State Team, an incredible feat in itself. In May, Chloe had the opportunity to compete at the Australian Championships held on the Gold Coast. It was there that she demonstrated her exceptional skills on the uneven bars, securing the 3rd position in the entire country to bring home the bronze medal!!!
These incredible achievements speak volumes about Chloe's dedication and talent, and we look forward to witnessing her continued success in the future. Well done, Chloe!

State Team Selection for U16 Women's Volleyball
Congratulations to Eva on being selected for the u16 Women’s Australian Team! Eva will be representing Australia at the 1st Asian Women’s U16 Volleyball Championship in Hangzhou, China in the July school holidays - good luck, Eva!

A few months ago, Eva P made the Under 15 Girls State Volleyball team. Last week her team competed and won gold at the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships, held in Bendigo. This team was the only Victorian team to win a gold medal at the event. Congratulations Eva and team!

National Youth Touch Football Championships
Our congratulations to Year 11 student Meg L who represented Victoria in the recent National Youth Touch Football Championships, held on the Sunshine Coast. Meg's Victorian team won out of the allied states (Tasmania, SA, ACT, NT, WA) with the overall win going to the traditional rugby state of Queensland. A wonderful achievement Meg!
Amy’s Medio Fondo Race
A HUGE congratulations to Jack L (Year 9) who participated in the Amy’s Medio Fondo race (45km from Apollo Bay to Lorne) on the weekend. Jack came third overall, out of the whole field of riders!

State Karting Championships

David Cade Autumn Cup
Congratulations to Harry (Year 9) who took out the David Cade Autumn Cup at Yarra Yarra yesterday! This is an annual event (since 1940) which is played over 4 rounds and Harry is the youngest ever winner - an amazing result!
Life Saving Victoria State Championships
Katie G (Year 8) recently competed in Life Saving Victoria State Championships. She competed in both beach and water events. She medalled in team and individual events. Individually she received a gold in the individual swim, silver in the Iron and bronze in the individual board. She also received the award of LSV U13 water champion for 2021/2022.
She did an amazing job and displayed courage, persistence and sportsmanship within her own team, her club and in her interaction with members of other clubs. She’s also achieved her Surf Rescue Certificate allowing her to patrol and give back to the community. Well done, Katie!
Australian Surf Life Saving Championships
Katie G (Year 8), Lily G (Year 9) and Annabelle H (Year 10) competed at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at the Gold Coast over the weekend. Against the best in the country, they had some great results!
In individual events:
Lily and Annabelle competed in the board relay team and placed 12th in the final. They also did an amazing job in the board rescue.

2022 Victorian Senior State Lifesaving Championships
Our Congratulations to Connor H (Year 9) who recently competed in the 2022 Victorian Senior State Lifesaving Championships in Warrnambool winning a GOLD medal as the U/15 Beach Flags State champion.
Mountain Biking Championships
Congratulations to Joseph (Year 11) who recently competed in the schools Mountain Biking Championships at Mount Buller. Joseph finished 15th overall out of in excess of 100 competitors and also achieved a top 10 finish on one of the courses. Congratulations Joseph!
Beaumaris Sharks in the U13 Girls Cricket Grand Final
Congratulations to Morgan, Sienna and Abigail (Year 7) who played for Beaumaris Sharks in the U13 Girls Cricket Grand Final last week and won against East Sandringham, who were undefeated all season! It was a great team effort and each of the girls gave a great performance for their team, taking a wicket each. Fantastic effort, girls!
State & National Athletics
In January, Val competed at the Athletics Victoria combined event and won the U18 men Decathlon state championship and, in February, came second in Sydney at Athletics Australia Nationals U17 men's decathlon.
Val is currently competing at Athletics Victoria states and has already qualified for Track & Field Nationals in March/April. He has also been selected for the Sandy Dragons Futures.

Our congratulations to Connor H (Year 9) who was invited to try out for the St Kilda u/16 Next Gen Diversity Squad. Connor trained with the squad at RSEA Park over the school holidays and played an exhibition match between the St Kilda and Melbourne Academy squads in a curtain raiser for the AFLW game between St Kilda and Melbourne that took place at Casey Fields on Saturday, 22 January 2022. We wish Connor well in the remaining games.
State Team Selection - Under 16 Girls' Cricket Team
Congratulations to Amelie O (Year 10) who was selected and played for Victoria in the under 16 girls' state cricket team in the National competition in Albury last week. The team was reduced from 55 to 13 players, and Amelie opened the batting for the Victorian metropolitan team.
Amelie is part of the elite ‘Emerging Talent’ squad with Cricket Victoria and also plays in the women’s 2nds team for Melbourne Cricket Club in the premier league.
Yesterday, Amelie made her first century, scoring 100 runs for MCC 2nds (open age), which is the 7th highest score for the club at any level, male or female, this season.
What a fantastic achievement, Amelie – we are so proud of you!
